Internet Checking Account
Internet Checking Account
It is easy to take bank accounts for granted. But do you really understand what you are applying for?
For a long time the system was simple. The banks offered checking accounts and the building societies, post offices and other outlets offered savings accounts.
The difference between a bank account and a saving account was simple. With a bank you got a check book and if you were permitted you could go overdrawn at a cost. With a savings account you could only withdraw cleared funds.
So when the banks bought out the other institutions and took over their accounts it all got a bit confused. Then the internet got involved and it became even more complicated.
The internet should be a blessing, not a curse. So below are our three reasons why the internet checking account is the best account available.
1 Preferential savings and borrowing rates. Before the internet if you wanted to know something about your account you either had to visit a branch or telephone them. This required premises, customer service staff and also telephone support. With the internet the majority of the management if done by the account holder. Banks do offer customer service support. This comes in two forms, the technical support who are there to solve your log in issues, and the customer service who will help you with your banking issues. These are a lot cheaper to run than banking premises. The banks make big savings when they move your account to internet based, so they encourage you to do this with preferential interest rates and deals.
2 Immediate access to your balances and funds. We now work more hours then ever before, and we still have to pay our bills and manage our home life. With an internet checking account you can choose when you do your banking, you don’t need to work to the banks timetable. If you want to pay bills in the middle of the night, then you log on and pay them.
3 Security. Keep your paper details to a minimum. There is big business in peoples identities. If you are constantly receiving statements by post then you are risking identify theft. When the internet started there were security issues and we all heard horror stories about people hacking into sites and stealing from bank accounts. In reality these were few and far between, we actually only heard about them because they were so rare, something which occurs all the time is not news worthy. Also the security has moved on significantly since then. The internet is safe and the less you have in paper the safer you become.
So the internet checking account has the best of all worlds, good rates, all the facilities of a traditional account and the versatility of the internet.
