If you are looking to open an online bank account then you should make sure that you are getting the best possible value.  This means that you should have less charges and higher interest rates than if you were opening a traditional bank account.  If you are not making savings then the bank is getting all the extra benefits and you will effectively be giving them money which should be yours.

An online bank account is undoubtedly a good move, just make sure that you and not the bank are going to be getting the benefits!
